Live Stock Insurance

Livestock Insurance Scheme is a Government of India   aided scheme launched as pilot basis in 100 selected districts across the country during the year 2006-07. The Sanstha launched the scheme in 2 districts viz., North 24 Parganas and Nadia in this State in the same year. Now, this scheme is running in 6 (Six) districts viz. Jalpaiguri, Dakshin Dinajpur, Murshidabad, Hooghly, North 24 Parganas and Nadia.

The objective of the scheme is to provide protection mechanism to the cattle owners against any eventual losses of their animals and to demonstrate the benefit of the scheme to the people. The ultimate goal is to attain qualitative improvement in livestock and their products.

Maximum of 2 milch cows or buffaloes of age group from 2 years to 10 years and having milk production of 1,500 litres or above in 300 lactation days are Insured on their market rate basis, a maximum value of Rs.18000/-.
